“So Much Positive Energy”

Got an amazing note from a St. Louis bride the Monday after playing the cocktail hour of a Saturday wedding … it went something like this:

We LOVED having your jazz trio play during our cocktail hour! The minute Michael and I walked in, there was so much positive energy in the air that started off the night in the most perfect way. Your music was upbeat, exciting, and beautiful. Our reception wouldn’t have been the same without you.
Thanks so much for helping to make our wedding day the happiest of our lives!

[Editor’s Note about the Kevin Mitchell 4: While most of the time we’re at least four if not five, we will on occasion do events as a trio or even a duo … I know the math gets a little complicated but there it is.]

This wonderful event was at the ever beautiful Forest Park Visitor’s Center. Camille and Michael had a DJ for the main part of their reception (the always outstanding and impeccable Millennium Productions had one of their great people spinning the night away for them). But for the cocktail hour in the section of the center where you first walk in, they wanted some jazz instrumental music to set the tone. We were grateful to be part of their special day, and they looked beautiful as they walked in after photos greeted by their guest and us playing “All of Me.”

I have to say something else about the “positive energy” – the KM4 has it by the bucketful. First of all, we are all close friends, really love each other, and some of us have been pals going back to high school. Secondly, we love the music we play. There are musicians who “have” to play weddings and corporate events etc., playing music that they don’t love, but that is not us. Finally, when we show up to your event, we show up for one reason and one reason only: We’re there to have fun. We are often complimented on the exuberance and joy that comes out when we play, no matter if we’re two or five, whether we play for one hour or six!
