Special weekend swingin’ downtown — we played a public gig at the Third Degree Glass Factory Friday night and … wow. What a great place with a great vibe. It was really hopping and we were pleased to be part of it — it was perfect for our jazz/swing/standards/blues/fun music.
And being a great St. Louis venue, you never know what’ll happen … and during our performance of the wonderful Randy Newman song “Feels Like Home,” a couple became engaged! Also special was that the last time we played this place it was for the wedding of Justin and Rachel … so imagine how cool it was when I looked up and saw that they had come out! It was great visiting with them.
The following night was another great wedding at another great place — The Randall Gallery. (How cool both nights we played spaces where the walls were filled with original art.) The evening went really well, and it was nice to get specific compliments about what we were doing (the father of the bride really loved our arrangement of “Summer Time.” Also since it went over so well the night before, we played “Feels Like Home” again and the dance floor was crowded with slow dancers.
In fact, he asked us to play an extra half hour as the party was still in full swing. Of course we said yes — we love to play.
