Eckert’s Fest!

Wow!  That was a great night last Friday.  Our return engagement to Eckert‘s in Belleville could not have gone better. The weather was beautiful, the kids were dancin’, the staff was busy serving a big crowd, and we played what we think was one of our best shows over.  Highlights included seeing the staff with T Shirts that listed on the bands playing their summer fest (more on that in a moment).

IMG_7198The great thing about the KM4 doing a show like this is we got to bring out some tunes we don’t always get to play, songs an audience doesn’t hear all the time.  We do a smoky version of the Kingston’s Trio‘s Scotch & Soda, for example, that was really nice. Extra fun was our version of When You’re Good to Mama from the musical Chicago. Also we amp it up with the guitar tunes … our version of Queen‘s Crazy Little Thing Called Love was great.  Mix that in with our regular assorted instrumental jazz, swing, and blues, and … well I’ll shut up now, but it was a great night.  The crowd was big and we kept them there.  Had a ball doing it, too.

But enough of us — we were honored to be part of a series with a bunch of great bands.  I’m going to try to take my family out there again just to enjoy the great food, beer, wine, custard, and kid events while I hear acts like Hudson & the Hoo Doo Cats, Miss Jubilee & the Humdingers, and the Western Satellites … but all the bands are top-notch and again, honored to be part of it!
